For anyone who needs meeting notes kept local

Client meeting notes that never leave your computer.

Attorney-client privilege doesn’t upload. Neither does Obveto.

Press record on any Zoom, Teams or Meet call. When it ends, the summary, decisions and action items are already written — by your computer, not somebody’s server. No account. No cloud.

Cloud notetakers hear everything.

Otter, Fireflies and Friends send the audio of every call to a third-party server — client names, numbers, the things said off the record. For a lawyer, a doctor or anyone under NDA that is not a preference, it is a liability.

Obveto has no server to send to.

There is no networking in the app — not switched off, simply not there. Transcription and summaries run on your own processor. Turn off Wi-Fi and nothing changes.

Notes are plain files you own.

Every meeting becomes a Markdown file in your Documents folder. Search across matters, open in Word, attach to the file — no export step, no lock-in.

Everything you need, nothing you don’t

Built for people who take meetings, not for people who run servers.

Record, transcribe, summarize, search. Every part runs on the laptop in front of you.

Client-ready summaries

Summary, decisions, action items and open questions, written from the transcript and nothing else. Pick a template — general, legal, sales, deposition, stand-up, 1:1 — or write your own sections.

Who said what

Speakers are told apart and every line is labelled. Tell Obveto how many people were in the room and it re-labels the whole meeting in seconds — no re-transcribing.

Search every meeting

Full-text search across transcripts and summaries. Find the call where the deadline was agreed, jump to the line, play the audio at that second.

Live action itemsTasks are real checkboxes. Tick them in the note or in the Tasks view; the file updates.

Speaker 1 so, um, before we get into the, the lease itself I think we should, you know, look at the renewal clause because that’s where, uh, where it fell apart last time
Speaker 2 yeah, yeah, totally, I was, um, I was reading it yesterday and the, the thing is the notice period says ninety days but the, their letter came at, what, sixty?
Speaker 1 right, right, so that’s, that’s the argument, and, um, Dana wanted the, the draft reply by, was it Friday?

Summary

Review of the commercial lease dispute. The renewal clause requires 90 days’ notice; the landlord’s letter arrived at roughly 60. Agreed this is the core argument for the reply.

Decisions
  • Lead with the notice-period defect in the reply.
  • Hold the rent-abatement point for a later round.
Action items
  • Dana — draft reply letter by Friday
  • Speaker 2 — pull the dated copy of the landlord’s letter
Local by designWhisper for speech, a small language model for notes. Both run on your CPU or GPU.
Works offlineOne model download at first run. After that, pull the Wi-Fi and nothing changes.
Zero uploadAudio never leaves the machine. Never part of anyone’s training set.
How it works

From meeting to note in three steps.

No bot in the call, no upload, nothing to configure.

01

Record

Press record before any call or meeting. Obveto captures your microphone and the other side’s audio, or takes a file you already have.

02

Transcribe

Speech becomes searchable text with speakers told apart — on your own processor, queued in the background while you work.

03

Summarize

Summary, decisions and action items land in a Markdown file in your Documents. Open it in Word, attach it to the matter, search it next year.

One difference per competitor.

Everyone promises you won’t lose your action items. Here’s what they don’t promise.

vs Otter / Fireflies

Their audio always leaves your machine and needs an account plus a bot in the call. Obveto: never, and no account.

vs Summit

Local too — but Mac only. Obveto runs on Windows and Mac.

vs Meetily

Local and cross-platform — but Docker, a backend server and a GitHub install. Obveto: two clicks.

Questions people ask before installing.

Does it need a GPU or a powerful laptop?
No. It runs on an ordinary office laptop with no graphics card; transcription just takes longer there and is queued in the background. A GPU is used when present.
Does it really never connect to the internet?
The only download is the speech and language models on first run. After that the app makes no outbound connections — check it with any firewall log. Licensing is an offline signed key, and there is no activation server.
Which meeting apps does it work with?
Any. Obveto records the audio your computer plays and your microphone, so Zoom, Teams, Meet, Webex, a softphone or a phone on speaker all work. No bot joins the meeting.
What languages can it transcribe?
Whisper large-v3-turbo handles most major languages; English and Russian are tested hardest. The interface itself comes in seven languages and notes can be translated locally.
Where do my notes live?
In an Obveto folder inside Documents, as plain Markdown files. Recordings are kept alongside. Uninstalling removes the app and its models; your notes folder is left untouched.
What happens when the 15 free transcriptions are spent?
New recordings and imports stop until a key is entered. Every existing note, the search, tasks and playback keep working — your notes are never held hostage.

Two clicks to install. Nothing to configure.

Windows 10/11 and macOS 13+. Works on an ordinary office laptop, no GPU needed. iOS and Android: maybe later.
